Tupelo Clinic Open House

Right Track Medical Group was joined by the Tupelo community as they celebrated the opening of the Tupelo clinic at 4428 South Eason Blvd. Thursday, Nov. 15.  A ribbon cutting ceremony and open house was hosted by the Tupelo-Lee County Chamber of Commerce.

Right Track Medical Group now offers mental-health services including medication management and therapy at its new Tupelo location.

Led by Psychiatrist and Medical Director Katherine Pannel, DO, the practice takes an urgent-care approach to mental health. Right Track opened its first location in Oxford this summer.

“Our goal is to address a real need in North Mississippi,” Pannel said. “People who need medication for mental-health issues often have to wait weeks to see a psychiatrist. Now these patients can get access to the care they need quickly and close to home.”

Right Track Medical Group is strictly an outpatient mental-health clinic and is not affiliated with any inpatient care provider. Those facing a severe mental-health crisis should still seek help at their nearest emergency room.

For others, though, mental-health issues are an ongoing private struggle. An estimated 43 million people in the United States experience some type of mental illness each year.

Right Track Medical Group’s approach includes psychiatric evaluation and medication management, as well as individual and family therapy, and coping skills groups. Common issues include anxiety, depression, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and postpartum depression.

The practice sees adults, teens and children as young as 6. Among children, common issues include attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, conduct disorder, separation anxiety disorder and specific learning disorders.

Special features of Right Track Medical Group- Tupelo include private waiting rooms for individuals and families, as well as private offices for conversations about billing and insurance.

“Getting the right mental-health treatment early can be even more critical for children and adolescents who are in important developmental stages,” said Sondra Bennett, psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner at the Tupelo office. “For all ages, our approach is about tailoring a treatment plan and eliminating fragmented care. We want to see people get better quickly.”
